The Brock Niagara Falls – Fallsview: A Legacy of Timeless Elegance

A Storied Beginning
The Brock Niagara Falls – Fallsview has been an iconic presence in the region for 96 years. Originally named the General Brock Hotel, it was conceived in 1927 and constructed in just over half a year—a remarkable feat at the time. At a cost of $1.5 million, the hotel opened on July 1st, 1929 boasting 260 guestrooms and featured a roof garden, fireproof construction, and a grand ballroom. The local press hailed it as “a mammoth edifice, gleaming white in the sunlight, classic in appearance, looming over the Niagara River.” In 1948, renovations expanded the Fallsview Rainbow Dining Room with the addition of two new floors, further solidifying the hotel’s legacy.

Honoring a Hero
The hotel’s original name honored Major General Sir Isaac Brock, one of Canada’s most revered military figures. A key commander during the War of 1812, Brock tragically lost his life while defending Upper Canada from American forces. His bravery is immortalized at Queenston Heights, where a 190-foot monument stands in his honor. Atop the monument stands a statue of Brock, forever watching over the land he defended.

A Haven for Royalty and Celebrities
As Niagara’s first luxury hotel, The Brock has long attracted a glittering roster of guests, including Hollywood stars and royalty. From Walt Disney and Shirley Temple to Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh, and Marilyn Monroe—who famously stayed here while filming Niagara—the hotel has hosted countless luminaries. More recently, it has welcomed Sylvester Stallone, Matt Dillon, Bruce Willis, and Jackie Chan. The hotel even played a starring role in the film The Whole Nine Yards, where the dramatic conclusion was filmed on the 11th-floor balcony terrace.

Gastronomic Excellence at The Brock
To further its reputation as a premier destination, The Brock added celebrated Chef, Author, and TV Host Massimo Capra to the renowned Rainbow Room Restaurant. Today, the space has evolved into Prime Steakhouse, which holds the prestigious title of the #1 restaurant in Niagara Falls on TripAdvisor.
